BB’s Cajun Cantina Predicts Strong 2026 Crawfish Season
The Gulf Coast comfort food destination is offering specials during the countdown to crawfish and will continue its reign as Texas Mardi Gras headquarters
San Antonio, 2026 –– Good news, crawfish lovers: BB’s Cajun Cantina says that all signs point to a plentiful, delicious 2026 mudbug season. BB’s plans to start selling boiled crawfish at all 12 locations on Monday, January 19, 2026, MLK Day.
Crawfish devotees trust BB’s forecasts. During the 2025 crawfish season alone––that’s mid-January to July 4––BB’s sold about 1.2 million pounds of crawfish and served just shy of one million people. That’s more than any other restaurant group, not just in Texas or Louisiana, but in the entire country, or for that matter, the continent.
Brooks Bassler, founder and CEO of BB’s, points to plenty of summer rains and marked temperature swings as indicators that the 2026 crawfish outlook is strong.
“Our crawfish farmers saw healthy rains last summer, which is an absolute must for volume,” Bassler says. “When it comes to the size of the individual crawfish, we need stark shifts from hot to cold weather to prompt the crawfish to molt––to shed their shells and grow bigger. So far, we’ve had those clear temperate shifts, and it looks like that’ll continue. So, we’re really optimistic that we’ll have plenty of nice-sized crawfish this year.”
BB’s is celebrating the Countdown to Crawfish Season 2026 with a slate of specials:
The Countdown to Crawfish Boil comprises one pound of flash-frozen crawfish, one snow crab cluster, 10 boiled shrimp, half a link of garlic sausage, corn and potato, plus dipping sauce and butter. A key note: The crawfish included in BB’s Countdown to Crawfish Boil are served only until crawfish season kicks off. These pre-season mudbugs are flash frozen while they are still alive to help maintain flavor and texture––a process that yields far tastier results than the partially boiled and then-frozen crawfish most other restaurants serve. The Countdown to Crawfish Boil is available through January 18, 2026, for $24.99, dine-in only through 1/18/26.
Snackers looking for a Gulf Coast crustacean fix can also opt for 20 hot boiled shrimp for just $10 dine in only through 1/18/26.
In addition to gearing up for Crawfish Season 2026, BB’s will continue to serve as Mardi Gras headquarters for hungry Texans. Now through Fat Tuesday––February 17, 2026––BB’s is offering $5 regular sized frozen drinks all day, every day. The expansive $5 frozen menu includes everything from frozen daiquiris and margaritas to signature swirls. Dine in only
Throughout Carnival Season, BB’s will also offer King Cake by the slice ($8).
BB’s will cap off Mardi Gras with its annual Fat Tuesday party at all locations, featuring live music and more.
“Coming out of the holidays is our favorite time of year,” Bassler says. “Carnival and crawfish––it doesn’t get more BB’s than that.”
